“Omotenashi” is what a cafe in Amvel East Arcade called Hajimaru Cafe wants to share with their customers.
Omotenashi means to wholeheartedly look after guests or in short, hospitality. This Japanese philosophy that they want to instill is subtly woven into the cafe’s interior.
Customers will be greeted with a welcoming vibe that extends from the inside to the outside of the cafe.
Hajimaru Cafe – はじまるカフェ, formerly known as Lotus Tea and Coffee – Amvel East Arcade, channels a Japanese ambiance, reflected in its Japanese-inspired architecture, drawing inspiration from its owner currently residing in Japan.
The coffee shop is located at 2-F, Amvel East Arcade, C5 Extension road, Brgy. Moonwalk, Parañaque, 1700 Metro Manila.
They are proud not only of the drinks and food they offer but also the cozy and warm vibe of the cafe that their customers appreciate, keeping them coming back.
Behind the Aesthetic
The Japanese architecture of the Hajimaru Cafe – はじまるカフェ was a project by Eacco.
Eacco, a design and construction firm in the Philippines, ensured the client’s goal of incorporating the Japanese aesthetic in the visuals of the cafe.
The Japanese-Style Design
The 90 sqm cafe exudes a modern yet warm ambiance. Its aesthetic is leaning towards the Muji and minimalist side, which of course, screams a Japanese-style design.
The minimalism, lighting, spaces, the use of wooden materials, neutral colors, and a touch of greenery represented by plants are the on-point features of the Japanese-inspired cafe.
Free from patterns and prints, it is the perfect place to focus on work, study, or simply relax while sipping your favorite drink.
The Lighting
One of the prominent features of the design is the lighting. The placement of lights is well-thought-out, reflecting the importance that Japanese design places on illuminating spaces, ensuring that your selfies and photos in the cafe are all Instagram-worthy.
